Gestalt therapy

Psychotherapy in a holistic perspective

Sessions in French, German or English

Gestalt therapy

"Gestalt" comes from the German word "gestalten", meaning "to shape, structure, create".

Gestalt therapy is a very lively approach that focuses on the person in their relationship to the world rather than on their analysis.

It sees the human being as a whole, with its mental, physical and emotional dimensions.

The therapeutic situation, this famous "here and now" is the place that promotes awareness of what is happening at these levels.

Without wanting to explain a situation with the question of the "why", it directs the consciousness towards the "how" of the experience.

It opens the field to the transformation of a structure that encloses, to make way for novelty.

Gestalt therapy works on creative adjustment to life and on restoring the autonomy, responsibility and freedom of the person

This method of psychotherapy is in line with the current of humanistic, existential and relational psychology.

Developed in the United States in the 1940s,

Gestalt therapy was created on the work of

Fritz Perls, psychiatrist and psychotherapist

and Laura Perls, doctor of Gestalt Psychology.

In 1951, with Paul Goodman, a writer and researcher in history and social studies, this method found its complement in its social dimension.

It arrived in Europe in the 1970s.

The training of the Gestalt Therapist

The training course lasts 5 years - 1000 hours divided into 3 cycles - validated by a knowledge test and the writing of a theoretical-clinical thesis.

This long training - excluding personal psychotherapy of a minimum of 3 years required - allows the integration of the foundations of Gestalt Therapy, both theoretically and experientially and aims to articulate clinical practice and theory.

At the same time, the student must validate training in psychopathology and commit to ongoing supervision.

Through this long process, the Gestalt Therapist will acquire not only knowledge, but also know-how and interpersonal skills, skills that he/she continues to develop through continuous training.

The Gestalt Therapy Session

I am accompanying people on their therapeutic journey since more than 20 years.

In a safe space, I welcome you in everything that emerges in your life.

By focusing on your resources, you can then become aware of the place of security in you.

I can act as a mirror, explore adjustments with you or witness what I experience in your presence.

My presence invites you to explore yours, also beyond words, on a subtle level.

I can be led to propose simple explorations: that of a gesture or that of a word - to facilitate the awareness of your expression.

I have experienced that already the conscious feeling of "little things" can open the way to global changes.

As the therapeutic work progresses, these moments experienced during the exchange become part of the life course. The process is part of the body.

When a frozen energy is released, it is available to create life and relationships.

The experiences lived during the sessions and their reception in the therapeutic setting are an asset to adjust more vividly to the world.

Our time of sharing is more like a part of a common journey, where I just take care of the navigation so that the present doesn't escape you.

The therapeutic relationship is one of the essential factors in this approach.

This work is done within a secure framework that follows the rules of the code of ethics, to which I adhere and which I have signed with the European College of Gestalt Therapy.

At the beginning of the therapy, the sessions are usually held once a week and last 60 minutes.

Who is Gestalt Therapy for?

To people who want to know themselves.

To those who seek to escape from suffering.

Every problem in life can be addressed.

At the psychic, relational, psychosomatic or spiritual level:

- anxiety attacks and panic disorders

- depression, burn-out

- relationship problems

- serious illness

- bereavement, break-up or divorce

- traumas

- existential questions

Gestalt therapy and creative expression

On request, it is possible to integrate artistic media.

The direct contact with the material facilitates the awakening of sensation and imagination.

I accompany you in this process of coming and going between the feeling and its expression.

On this path, the inner experience becomes visible and palpable as you are the actor of your creation.

This process of material transformation facilitates and reactivates the ability to act.

Paper, colours (gouaches, dry and greasy pencils), graphite, charcoal, clay, sticks, strings... are at your disposal in the workshop.

I quote Joseph Zinker, American Gestalt Therapist:

" Art is...a fresh and vital discovery of our unique presence in the world."

" One of the ways for a person to transform himself is by acting, by moving his body, by being expressive, by being alive."

" I have learned that consciousness cannot exist if it remains within the individual, that it needs to affirm itself in the activity, and then find some completion."

Jonas Burgert, German painter:

" The moment a painting begins, a dialogue begins with what we are doing there.

So you have to be open to react. "

Joseph Zinker:

"It is in the process of doing something...that the creator comes into contact with a reality outside his subjective life and enters the sphere of transcendence. »
